Familias Juntas' overarching goal is to meet the needs of the immigrant community in southwest Minnesota. Initially founded to connect children with the grandparents and extended families in their parents’ home countries, the organization continued to grow after returning from their first trip to Guatemala in 2013. After listening to the needs of immigrant parishioners, Familias Juntas expanded their vision to adopt a more holistic approach towards the challenges facing immigrants.
They have become a vital resource for families facing separation due to documentation issues and continue to share the stories of the families they work with in an effort to raise awareness about the inequality within the immigration system.
